[edit] Exotic dancer vs exotic dance

The reason I made it a link, even if it is a redirect, was that someone might want to make separate articles for them in the future. To be honest, I think it'd make more sense to name an article after the activity (exotic dance) rather than the practitioner as it is currently. It's called 'hockey', not 'hockey player', after all. There are separate artickles for ballet and ballerina after all :) Tyciol 07:51, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Which link are you talking about? I think Exotic dancing is the term you're looking for. Ewlyahoocom 15:50, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect to Striptease

Can anyone give us some cites where "exotic dancer" or "exotic dance" is used as anything other than taking off one's clothes. Anything from the most recent 50 years? Or some justification for why Exotic dancer, with redirects from Exotic dance and Exotic dancers, should be this page while Exotic dancing redirects to Striptease. If you look at the links, I think you'll agree all of these should point to Striptease. Ewlyahoocom 15:50, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

While the term is overly prolifent, by it's pure definition, exotic is not limited to sexual stripping. As long as there is a link to erotic dance, and a mention of the often used title, we can keep both. Tyciol 14:55, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
My dictionary doesn't list "prolifent", is it a word? I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Ewlyahoocom 01:09, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Carried: I agree that "exotic dance" means "striptease" or is at best a blanket term for Go-Go dancing, Striptease, Lap dance and veiled prostitution. No-one in their right mind would describe the Whirling Dervishes as exotic dancers -- that's just not how this word is being used. And this article brings zilch information to the table but only bowdlerizes the meaning. Maikel (talk) 17:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Exotic dancer

So, I met the guy from Japan(online), his profile says that he is exotic dancer. Did I understand it correctly that the guy most likely somehow involved in sex industry? With relatively small possibility that he is doing something else? English is a second language for me, so I don't really know what to think, and I feel that dictionary would be useless in this case. most likely yes however it could mean he dances japanese dances and calls them exotic as in foreign Dappled Sage 03:04, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
