It appears that Danko Dimchev Georgiev, M.D. chose to plagiarize this figure from research done by others. Please see Littleton, et al., (2001) J. Neurosci. 21, 1421–1433.

Although Littleton's paper was the first place the correct figure appeared, it is more likely that Georgiev obtained the image from the review by ER Chapman, 2002, which is cited on the synaptotagmin wiki page.

Minor changes to the original figure are: trace and color modifications (which remove crystallography information), and substitution of the original membrane schematic with phospholipid cartoons. All other features are the same.
