Exmoor Folk Festival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Exmoor Folk Festival is an annual festival of song and dance which takes place in the village of Brendon in Devon, England, in late spring. In 2007 the festival took place from May 11th to May 13th. Over the two days a number of outdoor and indoor events take place including Morris dancing, barn dancing, world music and children's events. It has focussed on Devon, Cornwall and Somerset performers as well as showcasing newer breaking acts.
The unique selling point of this festival is its beautiful setting in the picture perfect village of Brendon set in the middle of the Exmoor National Park.
In 2007 Devon Council cut funding to the festival but a local committee of volunteers ensured it went ahead.
Acts who played there in 2007 included Tony Beard (BBC Radio Devon's "The Wag from Widecombe"), "The Swanvesta Social Club", "Exmoor Border Morris" and "the Dambuskers".
