Non-free / fair use media rationale for Acorn Electron

Acorn Electron

Portion used

Single still image from game.

Low resolution?

Yes

Purpose of use

Used in the Acorn Electron article to illustrate the visual effect that would result when parts of the system's display buffer where used to store non-graphical data. This was sometimes done to work around the very limited memory available on the platform, and as a side effect this non-graphical data would be displayed on screen as seemingly random pixels outside the part of the screen used to display the actual graphics. This screenshot is a good example of this effect.

Replaceable?

I believe this screenshot is not replaceable except by other copyrighted screenshots from other games. In theory someone could write a free licensed program for the Acorn Electron using the same technique to produce the same effect and create a screenshot of it, but I believe it's best illustrated by a screenshot from one of the actual games that used this technique on the platform during it's commercial lifetime.
