Excel Entertainment Group

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Excel Entertainment Group, Inc. is a media conglomerate based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded by former Disney executive Jeff Simpson in 1995, Excel began when four LDS-oriented record labels and the separate Excel Distribution company were acquired. Excel Entertainment Group is best known for its consistent flow of products targeted toward Latter-day Saints and particularly the distribution of many pieces of LDS cinema.

On November 15, 2004 Excel and Deseret Book announced they would be merged into one company, with Jeff Simpson taking the role of executive vice president. Most of Excel's 45 employees will be managed somewhat autonomously under the "Excel" brand. A handful of producers in Excel's music division will be transferred to Deseret Book headquarters. Both companies are privately-held and exact terms of the acquisition are unknown.
