Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol, commonly abbreviated EVOH, is a plastic resin commonly used in food applications, although it has lately found application in plastic gasoline tanks for automobiles. Its primary purpose is to provide an oxygen barrier. Because of its high cost it is rarely used by itself, but instead laminated as a thin layer between cardboard, foil, or other plastics.
