[edit] Palestine?

Should Palestine be included in the list now? They held a press conference in Helsinki saying how they would like to enter in the coming years and I believe one of their broadcasters is joining the EBU. Thoughts?--Gottago 11:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Georgia

Is it worth entering Georgia into the template, seeing as they are likely to enter the competition in 2007? -- Francs2000 12:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, of course. —Nightstallion (?) 19:29, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2008 debutants

I don't think San Marino and Azerbaijan should be in the "Active" section of this template, in the same way as they are not included in the Participation section of the main Eurovision article. The obvious example of why I'm doing this is Lebanon, who decided in March 2005 that they wouldn't take part in that year's Contest. We can't really leave this template as it is until May 08 but I think it should stay as it is until the official EBU announcement next January. I'm not sure what to do with Austria. Any thoughts? leave it until it reaches the deadline (1st jan 2008), as then it is an official list of countries, and also the current year of the contest. then remove austria & insert azerbaijan & san marino ;) Esc luver (talk) 16:56, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vatican City

Why should vatican city be on the template? Their broadcaster has never broadcasted eurovision, and their TV station is for religious services only. - 92.10.214.188 (talk) 21:15, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Separating the FR Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro

FR Yugoslavia participated in 1992. At that time Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in the contest that elected the representative of then SFRY. FR Yugoslavia has been at the time mistaken for SFRY and allowed to take part in the Eurosong. Nevertheless the contest that elected the representative of FRY had been organized as the contest that elected the representative of SFRY. Singers from Bosnia and Herzegovina also participated in that local contest along with Montenegrin and Serbian singers. So FRY is not a merely Serbia and Montenegro article but also Bosnian and Herzegovinian article and therefore should not be mistaken for the SCG article topic. Bearing this in mind the article about the two will be separated and the template would have this mentioned also. -- Imbris (talk) 23:03, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

It hasn't been "mistaken" it was allowed to participated under that name since that was the political reality at the time. SFRY disintegrated and FRY was formed. Even the representative Extra Nena was from Serbia so there was no Bosnian Muslim participation in the contest under FRY banner. As I explained if we're separating FRY and SCG which are the same political, geographical and territorial entity then we should also split SFR Yugoslavia and FPR Yugoslavia, which would obviously be ridiculous.Zvonko (talk) 16:07, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
The proposal of spliting PFRY and SFRY is ridiculous but you are still commited to list the two names in the template. You are proposing that to fog the issue with nonsense. The FRY in 1992 competed with a song elected at a contest for SFRY representative. Bosnian and Herzegovinian representatives competed because TV Sarajevo sent them. So FRY in 1992 (the one and the only time FRY competed) is a very different thing from FRY in 2000 which recognized the fallacy of the successor issue (namely Serbia and Montenegro claimed the successorship of the entire Yugoslavia (SFRY, PFRY, DFY, KYU, KSCS). Stop your revertments because they are null and void the issue is FRY in 1992 (local contest under the red star for the representative of SFRY) and not the entire FRY. -- Imbris (talk) 22:02, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
