[edit] Neutrality

Why has the 'neutrality question' box been added?

...Where? -JLogan 08:37, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I am removing POV notice. It's completely completely unecessary, thus I am making it future-proof, since without a doubt the EU/eurosphere by every definition of the word *IS* an empire and if that is not enough to convince you, it will be remembered as one when it crumbles Rndxcl 06:56, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Well if you want to convince someone maybe you could try to back yourself up? I would say it is close but there is no way you can say with such certainty at the present time. Plus your sounding rather POV so again perhaps some backup there?- J Logan t/c: 09:05, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

The author seems to portray the Eurosphere as a highly expansionist state. This makes it seem in a negative light, as if the European Union were an evil empire whose main focus is expansion and trapping neighbors into joining it.

The main focus of the European Union IS expansion, but not 'trapping neighbours into joining it' - the article's main focus, Mark Leonard, DOES make this point because it notes the important difference between the EU and the traditional empire - empires have coerced states into joining them while the EU is simply very inviting to everyone. Mark Leonard's writings should have some more weight in this article. The only non-neutral bit I can see is the 'EC Action Plan' bit which really needs some thorough citation on the claims in that section. --Joffeloff 15:57, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I would agree, expansion is the aim, this is all facts. I don't see a negative light here. I suppose there could be more balance, mention the positive sides of it promoting democracy and human rights, but some might say it was an overly positive article then. But yes, there is a lack of citation. - J Logan t/c: 20:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gibralter

isnt gibralter part of the eu, i believe they vote in the elections as part of south west england, i may be wrong....

Yes, I'm quite sure it is. The list as a whole has no real source and is pointless, hence why I tried to replace it with "Countries within the Eurosphere" but the list was restored. Some areas on there have been put on out of POV rather than the Eurosphere itself as mentioned by Cooper etc. - J Logan t/c: 17:08, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Metropolitan Power

What's meant by "Metropolitan power"? I haven't heard that term before and google isn't providing any really decent definitions. Is this a mistranslation of some other term, perhaps? --Kim Bruning 04:11, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I think the core power, to be honest I haven't come across it, and I read Coopers and Leonard's work. Consiering there is no explination of the term in the text, you do have an alternative or shall we just remove it? - J Logan t: 17:48, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
