[edit] Name

Can anyone dig up the exact meaning of HOT? I came across it in a Encyclopedia Britannica Micropedia volume, in Warfare I think. The meaning is French and I forgot what exactly it was. Thanks.

HOT stands for "Haut Subsonique Optiquement Téléguidé", which means "High Subsonic Optically Guided".
