Etroplus suratensis or Karimeen(Malayalam),Pearlspot is a perch of the Cichlidae family[citation needed], available in backwaters of Kerala,Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.This fish is a delicacy in South India.This fish is fairly expensive and is available throughout the year.It attains an average size of about 200gms.The fish is caught mainly using gill nets.
