Esteem (album)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Esteem was the debut full length album for Australian band Machinations. Released in 1982, it spawned a minor hit in Australia with the first single off the album: Pressure Sway. The second single, Jack, a song about Jack Keroac, was less successful. Due to a lyrical reference to illegal drugs ("I wanna take some 1960's LSD"), "Jack" was often not played in live sets when audiences included minors.
Musically, the album contained synthpop with dark overtones, except for the single "Pressure Sway", a bright funk/pop song that was a dancefloor favourite.
