- Depending on the occasion, the Estadio Internacional Monterrey would be able to change colors, using fiber optic lens. It will be the same mechanism used in Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany
- The stadium will have an retractile roof.
- This will be the first stadium to be build on top of a bridge, to let the river run naturally underneath it.
- The stadium will have a capacity for 75,000 spectators.

The stadium will give more opportunities for a possible bid for 2020 Olympic Games, a bid that the city of Monterrey has been looking since 2005.
