Actually the first progrm on air was NOT the OSU vs. UT basketball game. That game aired the following Saturday, March 5 on ESPN. The first program to air on ESPNU was a special edition of College Gameday. The launch event was simulcast on ESPN due to a lack of cable companies picking up the ESPNU network. The launch event concluded with a concert by 3 Doors Down inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The network's tagline for the launch event was "Never Graduate"

When College GameDay aired from Stillwater, Oklahoma State University became the first school to host both the football and basketball versions of ESPN's GameDay shows.

The first live sporting event to air on ESPNU was one of the semifinal games of the 2005 Ohio Valley Conference Men's championship, at 9 pm Eastern on March 4, 2005. Game was between Eastern Kentucky University and Southeast Missouri State University. See here and here. Danthemankhan 18:35, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
