[edit] Pejorative?

Can this be possible? I removed this recent edit here: "Connotative Meaning of the Word Erudite/Erudition To call someone erudite is sometimes used as a backhanded insult that a person is arrogant. To call something erudite is to say that it is overly convoluted." (--Wetman 13:05, 4 October 2005 (UTC))

It is true that to call someone erudite is somethimes used as a backhanded insult that a person is arrogan. Not that it is right to use the word that way, but it is a fact that it is used that way sometimes. ("[..] came that erudite stranger, that fucker!" - cradle of filth, absinthe with faust)
