Eruanno
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eruanno is the Quenya translation of the Christian name Matthew.
[edit] Derivation
In Hebrew, Matthew means gift of God. This meaning can be translated using the Quenya words Eru (the One), and anna (a gift), and converting to a name using the -o suffix to indicate masculinity. The -o ending also conveniently matches the genitive case relationship between the words.
[edit] Use
- The name of a knight in the computer game, Tibia [1].
- By various fans of Tolkien's works, who may have the real name Matthew.
