Not much of a history buff here, all I know of this chap is from Downfall, where he is portrayed very sympathetically. I looked him up because I was wondering how accurate this is. From the article:
- During the creation of this plantation in 1938 over 100 people died, according to recollections of prisoners, mostly from overexposure to parsley.
I was unware that parsley was so dangerous. How exactly did it kill 50+ people? Gront 02:49, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dying from Tuberculosis
According to the article, Schenck performed a number of operations instead of the more experienced Werner Haase, because the latter was dying from tuberculosis. However, Haase didn't die until November 30, 1950. Being sick from Tuberculosis may be bad enough, and a reason not to operate on people, but apparently he wasn't actually dying from it in 1945? `--Thf1977 12:16, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
