Ernesto Valverde Tejedor, known as Txingurri (Euskera: ant) (born February 4, 1964 in Viandar de la Vera, Extremadura), is a Spanish ex football (soccer) player and current Football Manager.

He played during the 1980s and the 1990s in the Spanish League. After playing for Deportivo Alavés and Sestao, he was transferred to RCD Espanyol in 1986 and then in 1988 he became an FC Barcelona player, where he won a Spanish Cup and a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. In 1990, Valverde left Barcelona for Athletic Bilbao, where he played for six seasons before moving to his final club, RCD Mallorca. He retired after the 1996-97 season.

In 1997 he began his career as a Football Manager in the youth departments of Athletic Bilbao. Three years later (2000) he became a co-trainer in Athletic Bilbao. In 2002 he became manager of Athletic Bilbao B team. A year later he became manager of the first team of Athletic Bilbao finishing 5th that year in Primera Divion La Liga. In 2006 he became a manager of RCD Espanyol and played with them in the final of UEFA Cup against Sevilla where he lost in the penalty shootout. On 28 May 2008, Valverde was appointed by Olympiacos FC, signing a three year contract worth around 6,000,000 €. This agreement made Valverde the most expensive coach transfer in the history of Greek Football.
