Ernesto Martens

Ernesto Martens Rebolledo (Tilapan, Veracruz, January 28, 1933) is a Mexican chemical engineer, who has occupied several high-profile business positions and was Secretary of Energy during Vicente Fox's government.

Ernesto Martens is Chemical Engineer graduate of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, he postgraduate studies in the Technological Institute of Karlsruhe in Germany and in Harvard University.

He has been the CEO of several large Mexican corporations, like Union Carbide,Vitro Group and Cintra, owner of Aeroméxico and Mexicana de Aviación, making them profitable and saved them from bankruptcy.

On December 1, 2000, he was named Secretary of Energy by President Vicente Fox, a position which he held until 2003.
