Ernest Campbell Mossner was an English professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He authored the biography that is considered definitive of eighteenth-century Scottish philosopher David Hume. It is well-written, readable, and treats Hume's philosophy alongside his life as a man in considerable, though not overwhelming, detail.
