Talk:Eriogonum parvifolium
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] importance
importance is based upon value of host plant for many insects (including a semi-exlusive use by some california endemic endangered species) and mammals, and also its broad use as a landscape plant. it is also endemic to a fairly narrow coastal range of california- Anlace 01:12, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I edited out most of the conservation section because the problem at LAX was that the wrong buckwheat (E. fasciculatum) was planted. When it was removed and E. parvifolium was planted the competition on flowerheads of E. parvifolium decreased and El Segundo blue increased. So the problem wasn't too much parvifolium, but too little and the presence of the wrong Eriogonum.
