When speaking about Tott as the name of this gentleman, one needs to remember that it actually was contemporaneously used of him. Danish family names were some centuries ahead in developing and getting established thanb Swedish ones. compare with: Søndergaard, Georg: Danske efternavne - betydning, oprindelse, udbredelse, 1985. Eric Tott's first ancestor to be known with that name actually lived in end of 13th century, over century earlier than Eric himself (Danmarks Adels Aarbog 1900). While it is true that in 15th century, usual noble SWEDISH surnames were not in use and if something resembling was contemporaneously seen, they were (personal) nicknames of some of those persons if they were indigeneously Swedish; Danish immigrants and officials, particularly if noble, were already then known in Sweden with their noble danish surnames. And of course eveyone who contributes to this kind of articles knows where this Eric came from. Finlandais 22:40, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- According to the article on the Tott family in ÄSF (vol. 1, p. 271 ff.), his name was plain Erik Axelsson, not Tott, and the family name was not yet used at that time (see the article introduction). up+l+and 05:04, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
