[edit] WNBA career
Phillips was selected 21st overall in the 2nd round of the 2005 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun. She chose to remain in Australia for a year before joining the Sun in 2006.
[edit] International career
At age 19, Phillips made the Australian basketball national team. She wanted to become Australia’s first-ever female AFL player. Though she settled for basketball, since a women's basketball league was already established in the U.S and it was not politically possible for her to represent her country in Australian football. Erin Phillips created controversy earlier this month (April 2008) when she did a photo shoot for men's magazine Alpha wearing skimpy SpencerLacy lingerie.[1] It created hype for the Opals team prior to the Beijing Olympics later this year.
