Erattupetta is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 24 metres (78 feet).

As of 2001 India census,[2] Erattupetta had a population of 29,675. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Erattupetta has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 76%. In Erattupetta, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. Christians, Hindus and Muslims live here peacefully. Rubber is the major item of cultivation and this town is known for its popular church St. George of Aruvithura. (Aruvithura is the old name of Erattupetta , both means the junction of two rivers). It is one the most fast developing township in central kerala.
