[edit] Aden
Thanks for your rewrite on the geographic layout. It's a big improvement! Wwwhatsup 21:19, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re-write
Thanks for the kind words--you're welcome. I'm currently living/working in Aden, so it was relatively easy to correct!
[edit] Sites of Interest
I don't think you should wikify the names if there are no articles. Particularly the Military Museum goes to a different museum.
A short descriptive phrase after each would be helpful.
If you are there you could perhaps take some photos and add them to Wikipedia under the GFDL.
What about Sheba's Baths up in Crater? Sheik Othman Gardens?
My favorite place to visit in Aden was the Shazam cinema, long gone I suspect, and the biggest draw in the town was the khat market!

[edit] Back on line after sustained absence
Yes, I'll un-wikified those names. We are planning on adding articles in the future, but the names can be wikified then. I have plenty of photos. I'm planning on adding some to an article about the tanks, with more to come.
Sheba's gardens - have only heard comments about. No one here seems to know. Where is the location exactly? Sheikh Othman has become a sprawling mass of shops, apartment buildings, and roads in varying states of repair. I'm afraid that there's little left of Sheikh Othman's oasis past. Shazam - also gone, although Hurricane Cinema remains in Crater and I recently saw a play there put on by a local playwright. Qat (khat) is as popular as ever!
- Sheba's baths I would imagine are still there, as they were of great antiquity. They are a bunch of old water reservoirs in the hills on the south side of Crater. Another attraction was a small fort on an island in Crater Harbour. Wwwhatsup 23:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

- Do you mean the Cisterns of Tawila? I've just finished a page on those with pictures. As far as the fort, yes, that's Sira Fort. The island is now very much connected to Crater, but the fort is still there. Hope to add something to it when I get the chance.

- That's excellent! I don't know how I got the Sheba connection, but that's surely what I remember them as. I guess the next most important topic would be the Turkish fortifications. Young as I was when I lived in Aden I spent extensive time exploring the tunnels under Ras Tarshyne. Is there any history there?Wwwhatsup 19:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

- Yes- I saw references to "Sheba's Baths", so I think that that was a nickname for the tanks. I have spent plenty of time on (hot) Thursday afternoon hikes dragging reluctant Adenis and expats on explorations of the remaining fortifications. I have found no documentary evidence and no one seems to have any real knowledge of them, unfortunately. However, I'll keep looking and would welcome any information you might find.
