[edit] Height 37 inches?
I'm rather confused by this. It says that Epicyon was 37 inches at the shoulder, however according to the Wikipedia article on the gray wolf, Canis lupus is 32 inches (that's 2.6 feet!) at the shoulder, and I distinctly remember reading somewhere that Epicyon was supposed to be as large as a brown bear. I don't remember the link to the site where I saw that, but the page on Borophagines in general does say that it was bear-sized (perhaps this was taken from Lioncrusher). Why compare Epicyon's size to an (apparently rather small) bear, if it is only five inches taller than the gray wolf? 71.217.114.221 06:25, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Update - According to http://www.darbycreekpublishing.com/book_pages/wilddogs.htm Epicyon was 12 feet long and 1,800 pounds. So it far surpassed the living wolf at least in its other dimensions. 71.217.114.221 02:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Epicyon was moch heavier built than wolves and was more similar in its proportions to a mastiff. But 12 feet and 1800 pounds are highly exagerated and surely not true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.158.203.237 (talk) 12:30, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Similar in proportions to a mastiff? You have a source for that? 70.213.43.203 (talk) 23:04, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
