Talk:Ensay, Victoria

[edit] Name
Ensay says "The name originates from the Old Norse for Ewe Island", not a Gealic translation of Jesus. Which is correct? Cheers, Lindsay 07:35, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- The Gàidhlig for Jesus is "Iosa", pronounced "eesuh". Ensay (In Gàidhlig - "Easaigh", pronounced like "essay") is from Ewe Island. The Hebridean page lists Taylor as a source - I can vouch for him, as he is a serious academic source. I suspect this story may be a distortion of a distortion, i.e. from a bit of misinformation about Isay - here (not a reliable source at all!!!) --MacRusgail 15:35, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
