Talk:Enlarger

Diffuser enlargers scatter light before it its the negative surface, producing a softer image. This makes the condenser enlarger less forgiving to scratches on the negative. Diffuser enlargers don't have built-in contrast filters. They usually have a filter drawer to place the filters.

[edit] Where did the term enlarger originate?

I have know about enlargers and worked with them since the early 60's. I never considered the word enlarger. I just used them. Now, I wonder where the term orginated and how we come to use the term enlarger as a piece of equipment. I know that the enlarger make images larger. How come the prefix "en" has been added. Is enlarger French, English, or some other language? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ECFinley (talk • contribs) 20:04, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
