| Enigmosaurus mongolensis Barsbold & Perle, 1983 |
Enigmosaurus (meaning "Puzzle Lizard") was a herbivorous bipedal dinosaur, in the family Therizinosauridae, occurring in the late Cretaceous Period, about 95 million years ago in what is now Mongolia, central Asia. It reached up to 7 m long, with a height of 3 m and a weight of one tonne.
The type species, Enigmosaurus mongolensis, was named in 1983, Barsbold and Perle, from the puzzling and unusual shape of its pelvis (hips). It is a considerably larger dinosaur than the related Erlikosaurus.
