English Match
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The English Match is a traditional shooting sport, where competitors shoot 60 shots in the prone position with a small-bore rifle. The distance has varied between 50 yards (45.7 m) and 100 metres (109 yd), and for many years the prone match at the ISSF World Shooting Championships consisted of 30 shots from 50 metres and 30 shots from 100 metres.
Although the "English Match" is no longer an official event name, the event itself lingers: the prone version of 50 m Rifle still consists of 60 shots, albeit followed by a ten-shot final.
