[edit] History
The company was founded in 2001 by energy and business professionals who anticipated the recent changes in the energy and environmental landscape. They developed practical solutions necessary to address them. The unified vision was to create a company that would make a significant difference for their customers dealing with the pressures of continually rising energy costs, concerns about impending carbon regulations, legal compliance, and worldwide competition. All of these factors plus the problems of aging industrial facilities, major equipment wear, and hidden inefficiencies tend to have increasing negative influence on both revenues and profit.
eps implements efficiency and environmental benefits that are measurable, achievable, and sustainable to their customers. The breadth of company expertise led to development of a base of efficiency applications knowledge across all major processing areas of a typical manufacturing/industrial plant.
The company learned that a strategic three-step process can be used to provide accurate, measurable energy usage data for plant and executive management. This process can help prioritize and quantify an implementation cycle of energy efficiencies across the facility. Cost savings and carbon emission reductions can be accurately calculated at each step, allowing the facility to operate at high levels of efficiency. Once operational energy usage controls and process efficiencies are in place, there are still ways to gain more benefits. The third part of this approach is to consider less expensive or more carbon efficient energy alternatives or options, primarily onsite renewable or clean energy solutions. This three-step strategy became known as 'the eps way'.
[edit] Founding
The company was founded by Jay Zoellner, Shiva Subramanya, Staffan Akerstrom, and George Botich.
[edit] Solutions
As a leader in turnkey design, development, implementation and ownership of renewable and clean energy solutions, all of the project plans are customer-focused. The solutions optimize the benefits of alternate energy supply providing energy cost reductions and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and they create a continuous improvement process to guide our customers through their energy and emission challenges creating energy and environmental solutions that green the bottom line, top line, and incorporate sustainability goals.
[edit] Innovations
In May 2008, a new family of comprehensive systems, named xChange Point, was offered to the market. It provides near real-time data and access to facilities' subsystems enabling management information to benchmark and reduce energy and greenhouse gas emissions. The system offers a clear picture of how and where energy is used as how it relates to carbon emissions. reps, the Refrigeration Energy Performance Simulator is an eps-developed software program that estimates savings for industrial refrigeration system alternative designs. reps simplifies the system model and delivers accurate energy savings in less time than more widely used modeling programs. It is licensed to one of the country's largest electric utilities.
