Template:End is permanently protected from editing, as it is a heavily used or visible template. Substantial changes should be proposed here, and made by administrators if the proposal is uncontroversial, or has been discussed and is supported by consensus. Use {{editprotected}} to attract the attention of an administrator in such cases. Any contributor may edit the template's documentation to add usage notes, categories or interwiki links.

There a lot of templates that contain an opening {| but then no closing |}. Placing the closing |} in the article leads to the article being flagged as having a wiki syntax problem by the bots that generate the articles for WP:WS. In my opinion, using the {{end}} template in articles with such a template would be sensible. The alternative would be to generate an end template for every template with the opening {| in which would vastly increase the number of templates. Kcordina 10:59, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

End is much easier to remember and shorter to type. Better for our editors, I think. ("S-end", however, redirects here, for consistency with the other templates of the {{s-start}} series.) Waltham, The Duke of 21:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
