Is the correct spelling of the first word of the title "Encyclopaedia", or should it be "Encyclopædia" with a ligature, as with Encyclopædia Britannica? Wmahan. 19:05, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
It may have been used in EI1, but EI2 does not use the "ae" ligature. Masarra 23:41, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

The quotations are from one individual, and it is not clear whether his description represents the general opinion on the Encyclopaedia. modify 10:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
EI2 is indeed a standard reference work in Islamic Studies and the relevant area-studies disciplines. Masarra 23:39, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
The citation provided provides no proof that EI is an industry standard which is stated to effect on the front page.

Is it public domain? If so, we could use their articles about the Ottoman Sultans to expand the corresponding pages of Wikipedia (which are meagre, to put it mildly). --Ghirla-трёп- 23:22, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
