The previous description mentioned mixing beeswax with Damar varnish to create encaustic medium. Damar varnish is toxic when heated, as it contains turpentine and should never be mixed under heat. Damar resin, on the other hand, is simply the raw tree sap and is perfect for mixing with beeswax under heat.
