Would anyone support the idea of a "List of Emirates", like Bukhara, Khiva...? Chris 21:50, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Emirates existed pre-Islam, and among christian arabs - i.e. nothing necessarily to do with islam

So please don't attribute emirates as based on or from Islam. literally the word in arabic means governate (Imarah), ruled by a governor (Amir) which could mean any province in any form of government, theological or not Aaliyah Stevens 22:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
