[edit] Large cuts

I cut everything that was a copyright violation from either [1] or [2], which comprised roughly half the article. I attempted to summarize anything notable that was there, but didn't bother re-inserting mentions of his prominent fans unless there was a claim that Salgari was a significant influence on them. I cut nearly all of the "See also". They seemed to have nothing to do with Salgari other than being writers in the same genre at roughly the same time, and no claim was made of any association with them. I also removed Category:Italian science fiction writers as it was not said that he wrote science fiction -- in fact, it explicitly says he did not. A number of commercial links were removed as well.

Good work! Even if there hadn’t been copyright issues it would have improved the article. But I am glad that the photo remains! —Ian Spackman 03:47, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
You, sir, are one of those from whom a good word is most valuable. Thank you. TCC (talk) (contribs) 20:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
What exactly were these supposed copyright violations? You guys seem to be missing Salgari's "Duemila Leghe sotto l'America" (Milan 1888)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Salgari corsaribermuda.jpg

Image:Salgari corsaribermuda.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] A contradiction?

The article states that «At present only four titles have been translated into English.» but in the bibliography there are more than four titles in English. Why?--Dejudicibus (talk) 12:35, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
