Emily Eddey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Emily Eddey (born 1988) is a young female vocalist from Morristown, NJ and New York City who performs solo and with the band Fresca Musica. Emily has a powerful voice called "thrilling" [1] which is reminiscent of contemporary as well as singer songwriters from the sixties and seventies. Although when she is performing with her band, her sound is more like a rock band, she does acknowledge that, at times, she can sound like a traditional balladier.

Her first music video was shown on HBO [2] for a music contest for the show Weeds. Her video, directed and produced by Tobias Louie [3] and Jason Kurtis, included her singing her arrangement of "Little Boxes". The video titled "From Nine to Five" was a finalist but did not win the contest. One reviewer of the video on the blog stated the following about Emily's performance: "It is interesting to note that Pete Seeger‘s sixties version of Little Boxes sounded so quaintly naïve in comparison. Now, more than forty years later, this intense, new rendition befits the generation that grew up after “Little Boxes” was written. The promise of the counter culture has come and gone while its criticisms are as valid as ever. The frustration comes through loud and crystal clear," (R. Daniels).

Often giving her most energetic performances in front of large audiences, Emily first opened for a national act in 2007 at the Blizzle Music Festival in Morristown, NJ. [4] Her web site includes photographs of that performance [5] as well as others. Although she can be seen at Cafe Arabica [6]in Morristown, and other small venues in Greenwich Village, May 11, 2008 saw Emily perform her solo acoustic set at the Bitter End in NYC as part of the singer songwriter series.

Emily's focus is on her lyrics as well as her overall sound.

Her first single, Razor Painter, was loaded onto Amazon's MP3 store/site on May 12, 2008. [7]
