[edit] Name

Does anyone have a citation for the explanation that Elizabeth Street is named after the wife of Governor Bourke?

There are four parallel streets in the Hoddle Grid named, in order: King, William, Queen, Elizabeth. The naming was clearly intended to be understood as a reference to King William and Queen Elizabeth. It may also have been a piece of vanity on Bourke's part, but it's pretty obvious (to me, at least), whom you're supposed to think it's named after. -- De Guerre (talk) 23:49, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
