Note that Mrs Reid did not leave her money to the college. She had become concerned that London University was becoming Establishment (ie. the Church of England) dominated. She instead left it to support the Higher Education of Women. The Reid Trust for the Higher Education of Women continued until recently to provide scholarships and grants for women's education.
