Talk:Elias Boudinot
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Name suffix
Boudinot never used any qualifacation to his name (Jr, III, etc). I'll do my best to rephrase that sectiion of the article to remove this somewhat ackward structure. If you want to comment, please use the talk page. I want to replace the current family history with the following, but a number of people worked on parts of it. I'll wait a week or so for comments.
- Elias Boudinot was the grandson of Elie (sometimes called Elias) Boudinot, the son of Jean Boudinot and Marie Suire of Marans, Aunis, France, a Huguenot (Protestant) family. The first Elias fled to New York about 1687 to avoid the religious persecutions of King Louis 14th. His father (also Elias) was a silversmith, and a neighbor and friend of Benjamin Franklin. This Elias was born in Philadelphia on May 2, 1740.
