Elias K. Owen

Elias K. Owen was a United States Navy officer.
Born 21 November 1834, in Chicago, Owen entered the Navy in 1848. During the Civil War he served in the Mississippi Squadron, commanding Louisville and a division of Admiral David Porter's squadron.
Owen died 8 April 1877 at Kaskaskia, Ill. The destroyer Owen was named for him.
