Electoral district of Ballarat West

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Electoral district of Ballarat West is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It has two periods of existence, firstly between 1859 and 1927 and since 1992. Unlike Ballarat East which has a rural character, Ballarat West is mostly urban, taking in much of Ballarat itself and its southern and western suburbs.

While the seat currently is fairly safe for the Labor Party with a margin of 9%, it was held by the Liberal Party during the years of the Kennett government.

The member for Ballarat West is Karen Overington.
