A couple of days ago, the El Dedo De Dios article was moved to El Dedo de Diós. In Spanish, accents are used to denote which syllable to place the emphasis on when pronouncing the word, so the rule is that words with only one syllable, like "Dios", don't have an accent placed on them - it's just not needed. --kb 16:21, 16 January 2005 (UTC)
- My apologies; I assumed that it was a dialectic preference for the Canary Islands when I saw it in the article. And, for reference, "Dios" has two (albeit slurred) syllables - Dee-OS. —Cuiviénen (Cuivië) 01:17, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, the i is more of a demivowel in this case (the Spanish form of the word). Ventifax
