Kilikiti
Hi there. Nice work on Kilikiti. Do you think you'd be able to get any public domain photographs of this to include in the article? -- Ian ≡ talk 23:45, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Please help
Sorry to bother you, but as an Inclusionist wikipedia things are getting desperate and I need to appeal to your for help. We are facing a situation where a deletionist admin is free to declare inclusionist arguments "absurd" and ignore them at will. If you don't agree with this situation, please share your opinion here. Contra Dance talk pages
Eitch, Are you knowledgable on how to move parts of a page, with associated history to an archive page? About half of the text on the contra dance talk page could be put into an archive without regret, such as the name change discussion. Obviously not very exciting work, but it would ease future conversations. I'm ignorant of how to do that elegantly and correctly. Yellowdesk 03:43, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea, and yes I know how. Today's a busy day, but I'll try to get it done. Eitch 16:13, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Cool. Thanks. No need to hurry, it's been that way for a while. If there's a reference for me to learn how to do that, please let me know (just seems like an admin-level thing to me).Yellowdesk 05:15, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, finally it's done... I let that take much longer than it should have. For the future, here's the relevant link: Wikipedia:How_to_archive_a_talk_page. Oh, And I'm very flattered to be mistaken for an admin! Eitch 23:31, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Sandbox2
The difference between this and Wikipedia:Sandbox is that test pages aren't supposed to be in article space. NawlinWiki 02:56, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oh man! That'll teach me to edit when sleep deprived! I didn't even notice I'd done that. Do you have the power to delete pages? Please do it, if so. (p.s. any ideas about what I was actually wondering, namely why the boxes currently at my sandbox and sandbox2 have the differences described at my sandbox?) Geez... I'm glad you caught me. --Eitch 03:06, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

- note I've taken the links off the sandboxes, as they no longer have the relevant content. --Eitch 18:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

ListGenBot vs fiddlers
Hiya, you were asking me at one point about using ListGenBot to organise lists of fiddlers. You may like to know ListGenBot has been approved and is running 24/7 so it's free for your use if you want it. Let me know if you'd like assistance with it --Mortice 23:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Contra corners-3.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Contra corners-3.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:FlamingLips Shambolic.jpg
| This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:FlamingLips Shambolic.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:48, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Image source problem with Image:FlamingLips Shambolic.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:FlamingLips Shambolic.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:18, 13 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 19:18, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Amiina
Hi. Was this directed at me? I did note the relevant discussions in my edit summary here. L!nus is proposing the guideline be changed, but seems to now accept that the current guideline is to capitalize such names. --PEJL 17:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about moving back and forth between your talk page and mine. Shall we stay here?
- No, actually :) [My (Sept 13) nearly content-free edit to amiina/Amiina] was actually directed at everyone reading the page except you and L!nus (and I've pointed him to this explanation) — you've put forth your views, with evidence, which is good, but it seems the way to resolve this particular debate will be to reach an explicit consensus. Since we can't take a vote, we can at least encourage people to speak up.
- In my (Sept 13) edit to the talk page I start with a summary of the debate, because the discussion is so long that people might be discouraged from reading through it. So… I don't mean any offense, but I think it'd be good for us to hold back for a bit. Of course I'm not saying you shouldn't contribute when you feel it's necessary, but let's give people some time to speak up. --Eitch 18:09, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
-
- (this also counts as a reply to your comment here) again, thanks for your input. there is indeed need of fresh voices, as the current debate has turned into a stalemate with neither party being able to convince the other. it was also the reason why i left the specific case of amiina vs Amiina in favour of the more general debate on the guideline, hoping to draw in other people. --L!nus 20:59, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Citations to sources for the several contra dance articles.
What I intend to mean is there are many many paragraphs (of very good) text without reference to any published works. As a project, it would be great to get some references to the many claims about what is involved in contra dance. Especially so the articles can be defended from critics saying that the article fails to meet up with Wikipedia standards. And I admit, I could / should be adding references from the books that I have on hand. (Feel free to remove the ugly tag if you desire...and bring the topic to the talk pages...)-- Yellowdesk 00:00, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

- The "see also" section
- Can I interest you in a drafting couple of eloquent sentences in either the lead, or the history section that incorporate any un-used of the "See Also" links? (except Ted Sannella). I think Social dance and Quadrille is not in the article...perhaps I missed it. I don't mind having the section depart.
- Links on the "futher reading" section
- I don't think there is any harm in multiple links here (linking the author, via the "cite book" template. I suspect most wikipedia reference sections, and bibliographies, will have multiple links of various flavors: publishers, authors, especially. I think Ted Sannella is not mentioned in the body of the article, so it's actually a slim mention, to notice only one link in the "further reading sectioin", if we drop the "see also" section, which I am in favor of.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Braineaters-skull logo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Braineaters-skull logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:42, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- This image is used in a userfied article, temporarily (the article was deleted, and now awaits a second chance). I've deleted the "delete" template, and replaced it with the reasoning. (I've also un-orphaned it, hopefully, by including the userspace article in the "article" field of the non-free use rationale template. — eitch 15:23, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Seoul (single).jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Seoul (single).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:40, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Categor:Fiddlers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dawn bard (talk) 03:20, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's not really a duplicate, but after creating I found Fiddlers by Nationality, and was going to tag it for deletion myself. — eitch 03:42, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Celtic folk instruments
A tag has been placed on Celtic folk instruments requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. PoinDexta1 02:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

- As I just added a proper page for Kitchen Motors Family Album/Fjölskyldualbúm Tilraunaeldhússins I believe that at least now the album image can be properly referenced if uploaded again. Whether this motivates its use from a fair use perspective I don't know. Sebras 10:14, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Donner Party (Ultimate)
Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Donner Party (Ultimate), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
