I see that the genre for this writer was recently identified as "Romance." This is definitely inaccurate, as the author did not write romances as they are generally understood or as Wikipedia defines the genre.
The confusion may be a result of a misunderstanding. Chang wrote a book with the title ROMANCES, but she was referring to the an older definition of the term.
At any rate, she was a writer of literary fiction and is best known for her novellas (or short stories). It would be helpful if this could be reflected on the page.

Concerning the following sentence from the beginning of the entry: "Chang's work describing life in 1940s Shanghai and occupied Hong Kong is remarkable in its focus on everyday life and the absence of the political subtext which characterised many other writers of the period. " "The absence of political subtext" is not so "remarkable" at all: in 1941, Shanghai falls definively in the hands of Japanese army: who could publish in "Occupied Shanghai" any work containing "political subtext"? The beginning of the entry should precise that World War II China was a divided country with different specific zones: "writers of the period" living in Yan'an would write political literature, not those living in Shanghai from 1941 unto 1945. --WKGen 17:45, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
