I live in Eidsvoll and it is sad that the town seems to be neglected. Not only is it the place where the constitution was signed it is the origin of the first railroad line in Norway. Recently, the Eidsvoll train station ticket office closed its doors. Now, in order to buy a ticket for the train from Eidsvoll you have to go to the train station kiosk and wait while the clerk makes a sausage and sells smokes to one of the local taxi drivers before you can get your ticket down this historic line. If you live on the outskirts of Eidsvoll you will find it extremely difficult to find public transport. Riding a bicycle along the roads could be deadly because the city planners have not proritized bicyle paths. Taxi is the safest alternative if you do not own a car of your own. Eidsvoll has 3 grocery stores in the historic town center and about 6 hair salons. The only real pub in the town center will be torn down soon according to http://www.eidsvollisentrum.no

Should there be a note about the smaragd mines? Whatever a smaragd is called in english.. ;)

A "smaragd" is an Emerald. Didn't realize Norway had such. Williamborg
