Eggborough Power Station is one of three power stations (Ferrybridge, Eggborough, Drax) which extend in a line about 4 miles apart from each other to the north of the M62 motorway.
There also used to be a fourth power station to the south of the M62, Thorpe Marsh, which is now closed.
Previously property of npower, Eggborough is the only coal-fired power station owned by British Energy.
