Eelfinn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eelfinn are a fictional race in Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series.

The Eelfinn are a race who live in a dimension outside of "Randland" accessible only by use of a ter'angreal found at Rhuidean (first used by Mat Cauthon) and the Tower of Ghenjei. They exhibit fox-like characteristics and will grant any visitor three gifts. However there is a price for these gifts, and if it is not agreed before the gifts are given, then the Eelfinn will set the price themselves--a price that the visitor will usually come to regret paying.

The world that they live on is similar to that of their cousins, the Aelfinn, in that it is somehow 'twisted' enabling the Eelfinn to read the pattern differently from how a human would, often leading to a better understanding of the weave. This difference leads to the misconceived notion that the Eelfinn are inherently evil. However, they can neither be described as good or evil because they are so different from humans in understanding and intelligence that these concepts cannot be applied.

[edit] Rescue Time?

"Courage to strengthen, fire to blind, music to daze, iron to bind."

As is seen in KoD's, Thom, Mat, Noal and possibly Aludra are heading towards the Tower of Ghenji to save Moiraine Damodred.

"Music to Daze" could be a reference to Thom.

"Iron to Bind" could be a reference to either Noal Charin or Mat Cauthon, as both wield many knives very...thoroughly.

"Fire to Blind" could be a reference to Aludra and her 'dragons' and 'dragon eggs.'

"Courage to Strengthen" could be a reference to anyone however.
