Edwin C. Barnes

Edwin C. Barnes was a business associate of Thomas Edison.[1]

Barnes was born around 1878 in Wisconsin. About 1904, he married a woman named Esther. They had a daughter around 1906 while in Colorado.[2]

Barnes arrived in Chicago in 1905 to ask Thomas A Edison to be his business partner. Barnes was determined to go into business with Edison and started out as an office worker. Eventually he got the chance to actually become a business associate with Edison by selling what was originally the Edison Dictating Machine but later called the Ediphone. They remained close associates until Edison's death in 1931.

Barnes retired in 1951, dividing his time between New York and Florida each year. He took ill and died in Bradenton, Florida on September 23, 1952[3].
