Edward Lewis Sturtevant

Edward Lewis Sturtevant (born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 23, 1842; died July 30, 1898) was an American botanist and agronomist. In youth his parents died so he was raised by an aunt.[1] In 1863 he graduated from Bowdoin College and later attended Havard Medical. In 1887 he was elected President of a Society for Promoting agriculture science.[2] He also did studies in the history of beans.[3]
