Edward Fiennes-Clinton, 18th Earl of Lincoln
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Edward Horace Fiennes-Clinton, 18th Earl of Lincoln (February 23, 1913–2001) was an Australian engineer and landowner. In 1989, upon the death of the last Duke of Newcastle, a very distant relative, he was informed by a British newspaper that he had inherited the ancient Earldom. Although he subsequently travelled to England, where he was warmly received by (among others) the city of Lincoln, he never went through the formal legal procedures to prove his right to the title.
In 1940, he married Mary Ruth Millen Fitzpatrick (d. July 19, 1947) and had two children:
- Patricia Ruth Fiennes-Clinton (b. February 1, 1941)
- Edward Gordon Fiennes-Clinton (b. February 7, 1943)
On December 3, 1953, he married Linda Alice Creed.
